Main focus

Kristina Hunger provides comprehensive legal advice on energy law to municipal utilities, energy retailers, and energy startups. Her core focus lies in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating energy contracts (including electricity, PPAs, gas, and heat) as well as providing legal support for the development of variable electricity tariffs, energy services, and decentralized energy generation models. She also assists companies in implementing sales partnerships and innovative business models. Additionally, XXX advises on data protection and competition law issues in energy sales.

A particular focus is on integrating LegalTech solutions to standardize legal processes, as well as on Legal Design to make complex contracts more comprehensible and user-friendly.

Personal background

Kristina Hunger has been a partner at BH&W since 2025, advising companies in the energy sector comprehensively on energy law, data protection, and the structuring and implementation of sales partnerships. She is the co-founder and managing director of the LegalTech startup zerio° (since 2023) and previously founded the law firm LUMOS Legal (2022). Before becoming self-employed, she worked for twelve years in the legal department of rhenag Rheinische Energie AG, where she advised energy suppliers on regulatory and sales law matters. She began her legal career in 2008 as a member of the energy law team at DLA Piper in Cologne. She completed her legal traineeship (Referendariat) at, among others, the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur). She studied law at the University of Mannheim and the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer.
